Hello, fellow diamond enthusiasts! Welcome to today's blog where we'll be diving into the world of quiet luxury. Well, maybe not so quiet, because if you know me, you know I'm not exactly known for keeping things hushed. I'm Bonnie, and I'm here to share my passion for diamonds with all of you, whether they're big, small, or somewhere in between.
Today, though, we're going to focus on something a little more understated but undeniably elegant – diamond dangle earrings. That's right, we're switching it up from the usual diamond rings. So, without further ado, let's get into this sparkling story!
Stay tuned for a delightful exploration of the world of small yet stunning diamond dangle earrings.
A good story always adds a touch of charm to our jewelry creations! Let's delve into the earrings we'll be featuring today.
I recently had the pleasure of connecting with a long-time client who, I must say, truly knows how to embrace creativity. You know the kind – the ones who just say, "Hey, Bonnie, I adore everything you make, surprise me with something casually beautiful for everyday wear." What a delight, right? To top it off, she even went the extra mile and got a second piercing on her ears just to accommodate a second pair of By Bonnie earrings! Now, that's dedication.
Here's where the creative sparks started flying. We began brainstorming, thinking about dangle earrings, but then came the questions: How large should the diamonds be? Which metals should we incorporate? She had mostly worn platinum pieces from my collection, but then she mentioned something intriguing – gold with diamonds. That got us thinking: Can gold really pair well with diamonds and maintain that sense of quiet luxury?
And the answer is a resounding YES! Diamonds, as you may know, are incredibly versatile and can beautifully complement various metals, not just platinum or silver. When combined with gold, they create a timeless and elegant look that exudes a subtle, yet opulent charm. It's a perfect choice for those seeking a touch of sophistication in their everyday accessories.
So, stay with us as we explore how this exquisite blend of gold and diamonds unfolds in our client's new dangle earrings – the epitome of understated luxury.
I love to mix and match my jewelry, often layering gold with platinum depending on my outfit and the mood I'm in. It's incredible how these metals can complement each other and create a beautiful blend of colors. Now, let's talk about this special project.
So this client reached out to me, sharing that her anniversary was approaching, and she had recently gotten a new ear piercing. She was in need of something unique to mark the occasion before a significant project. Drawing inspiration from a pair of earrings I had designed for myself, I embarked on crafting a set for her.
My own earrings, (seen above) designed for everyday comfort, served as the muse. I wanted them to strike that perfect balance between size and elegance. The top diamond in the design is a captivating cushion-cut, while a striking green emerald graces the bottom.
What's truly exciting is the versatility of this design. We can explore various gemstone colors, from blue to pink sapphires, and even the coveted rubies, although their price can be quite high due to limited availability. The possibilities are endless.
Staying true to my client's preference, we opted for a size that was just right – not too large, but exuding a sense of understated luxury. It's all about creating a piece that resonates with her style and marks this special milestone. Now, how large is too large?
For this particular project, I carefully handpicked a pair of stunning diamonds. They both boast an F color grade and VVS2 clarity, ensuring impeccable quality and brilliance. (Click here to see these earrings up close!)
To stay true to the concept I used for my own earrings, I designed them with practicality in mind. These earrings feature a secure lever-back mechanism that ensures they stay comfortably in place when worn.
Now, here's where the magic happens. While it may appear that the diamonds are bezel-set, I actually used a prong setting technique, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall design. This choice enhances the diamonds' brilliance and allows them to shine their brightest in this elegant pair of earrings.
The design of these earrings was carefully thought out to strike a balance between showcasing both the diamonds and the gold element. Each of these diamonds is approximately half a carat, making them suitable for everyday wear without overpowering the overall look. It's crucial to find that sweet spot where the earrings neither disappear on the ear nor overwhelm it.
Initially, I had some concerns about their size, fearing they might be too small. However, now that I've completed the earrings, I'm absolutely smitten with the result. They're incredibly comfortable to wear, and the subtle movement they offer is delightful. What's more, the gold component is visible, adding an extra layer of elegance to the design.
These earrings are incredibly versatile, suitable for both dressing up and dressing down, which makes them a perfect choice for my client's second ear piercing. I'm truly thrilled with how they turned out, and despite being a departure from my usual focus on rings, I couldn't resist sharing them with you all in this blog (and video). They are a testament to the beauty of understated luxury and everyday elegance.
Once again, if you're on the lookout for something that exudes quiet luxury – a touch of diamonds without going overboard on the bling factor, something comfortable enough for daily wear – then this is absolutely perfect. It's the epitome of understated elegance.
I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to let my creativity shine. I find that my best work comes to life when I'm given a blank canvas and the freedom to work my magic. And in this case, I believe we've truly made magic happen.
I've been envisioning these earrings with different diamond shapes as well. The step cut facets of the emerald, for instance, add a subtle but undeniably luxurious touch. So, I'm curious, what other diamond shapes would you like to see in this design? And would you be interested in exploring larger carat sizes? The possibilities are as endless as they are enchanting.
